How do you plan a birthday or bachelor trip for 10 in Playa del Carmen?

A plan for a birthday or bachelor trip for 10 in Playa del Carmen: a rooftop dinner, a beach club day, a boat, and a night out that works.

Build the trip around one great group dinner, one beach or boat day, and one proper night out, and leave the other days easy. For ten people that means a long table, reservations made ahead, and a clear plan for the loud part of the night, because our house rules do not allow parties or events in the penthouse and quiet hours run from 10 pm to 9 am. A bachelor or bachelorette weekend follows the same plan. Everything below is walkable or a short taxi ride from the building.

Start with the dinner on the roof

The roof has a shaded pergola with a dining table for 10, a private pool, loungers, two daybeds and hammocks, with ocean views. A first-night dinner up there keeps everyone in the same place.

The team can arrange a private chef on request, room decoration for birthdays and anniversaries, plus groceries you order online and have received before you arrive. These services are booked and paid separately, and you can message us on WhatsApp for prices. For a birthday, we would book the chef for the first or last night and plan the party elsewhere, which brings us to the house rules. Parties and events are not allowed, and quiet hours are 10 pm to 9 am, with no loud noise or high-volume electronics. A dinner among the guests staying in the unit is what the roof is for. A speaker on the roof at midnight is another matter, and if you are unsure whether your plan counts as an event, ask the team first. Plan the loud part of the night out of the building.

Pick a daytime anchor

One shared activity keeps a group of ten together.

  • A beach club day. Mamita's Beach Club is about a 3-minute walk. A June 2026 guide lists an adult day pass of about USD 50, usable toward food and drinks, and a daily DJ at the VIP pool. Call ahead for beds and ask about the minimum spend.
  • A boat. FishOnPlaya runs fishing and snorkeling trips from the beach, and I like the crew. A shared catamaran with snorkel stops is another option. Our day trips page has more.
  • A spa afternoon. The Okom spa circuit is next door, and a massage can be arranged in the penthouse.

If you are building a long weekend, a good rhythm is: roof dinner on night one, beach club on day two, boat or spa on day three, and the big night out on night three.

Choose a restaurant that seats 10

All of my restaurant picks can seat a group of ten, but call ahead and give the number. Good options for a celebration dinner:

  • Harry's Steakhouse & Raw Bar: about 10 minutes away, right on 5th Avenue, and my favorite steakhouse in Playa for a nice night out.
  • Fuego Santo: Argentine steaks at good prices, about 8 minutes away.
  • El Gober: fresh seafood, where locals go, about 9 minutes away.
  • Lido: dinner on the sand, with live music some nights.

The team can also make reservations at restaurants, bars and beach clubs on request. Our eat and drink page shows every option.

The night out

This part of town is good for a progression, not a single venue. Walk times are from our gate.

  • Start with a drink before dinner. Roof 28 is a rooftop bar at The Reef 28 next door, about 2 minutes away. Its page lists it as adults-only for guests over 18, serving from 11 am to 9 pm every day, so it works as a pre-dinner stop, not a late one.
  • Move to live music. La Bodeguita del Medio is a Cuban bar on 5th Avenue at Calle 34, about 5 minutes away, with live son and salsa. Caimán Tugurio, a live-band bar on Calle 24, is about 3 minutes away.
  • Go bigger if the group wants it. Coco Bongo, about 12 minutes away, is a show club with acrobats and tribute acts and an open bar included in the ticket. It is for ages 18 and over, asks for a valid official ID and a casually elegant dress code, and tickets are bought on its site. Mandala has two floors and a rooftop terrace on Calle 12, about 10 minutes away. Clandestino Rooftop is a rooftop club on 5th Avenue at Calle 10, about 12 minutes away.

Our 5th Avenue walking guide shows how the blocks connect.

Keep the night safe

The U.S. State Department lists Quintana Roo at Level 2, "Exercise Increased Caution," so read the current advisory before you travel. A June 2026 guide notes that tourist incidents tend to cluster around the Calle 12 club area after midnight. Nothing about that should stop a good night, and it argues for the same habits you would use anywhere:

  • Go out and come back together.
  • Keep an eye on your drinks.
  • Agree taxi fares before getting in, and ask the front desk to call one.
  • Save the address: "Calle 28 Norte y la playa, Aldea Thai."
  • Nominate one person who stays sharp until everyone is home.

Sort the money before you arrive

Ten people means ten opinions about who pays for what. Our guide to splitting a group rental walks through it. Agree the shared costs, the chef and the day pass first, then let people choose their own extras. It saves the awkward part of the trip.

Plan the dinner, protect the mornings, and leave one evening open.
